Thomas Partey suffers another injury as he missed Arsenal UCL win over Sevilla

Ghana and Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey has suffered another injury setback which forced him to miss Tuesday’s UEFA Champions League win against Sevilla at the Estadio Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan.

The club confirmed that Thomas Partey will not be available for their UEFA Champions League group stage match against Sevilla due to an injury.

The 30-year-old midfielder sustained a muscle injury during training the day before the crucial fixture, ruling him out of the game.

Arsenal won the game with goals from the Brazilian duo of Gabriel Martinelli and Gabriel Jesus before Sergio Ramos pulled one back for Sevilla for a nervy finish.

Arsenal’s manager, Mikel Arteta, confirmed Partey’s absence in a pre-match interview, stating, “Thomas [Partey] picked up an injury yesterday in training, unfortunately, it’s a muscle injury. We don’t know the extent of it – a big miss for us.”

Partey had recently recovered from a long injury layoff and featured for the Black Stars in October’s international friendlies against the USA and Mexico.

So far this season, he has made just four appearances for Arsenal in all competitions.
