Asante Bekwai readies for first private University

Baldwin University College, located in Accra is set to be relocated from the nation’s capital to Bekwai in the Ashanti Region.

The founder of the University College, who is said to be a native of Bekwai has finished all documentation with the locals, including the Bekwai Traditional Council.

One Kwabena Nsafoah,  an educationalist,  wrote on Facebook that initially, he wanted to relocate it and set up a bigger and fully fledged campus at Anwiankwanta.

“He secured vast documented land and 3 years ago he compensated all farmers for the land to be cleared and pave the way sod cutting of the project.

“A faction of the royal household in the town resented the idea with a claim that the project was going to occupy prime parts of their land and insisted on rezoning.

“The matter went to court and the local is due for compensation.”

“As of now, the Paramount Chief of Bekwai has stepped in and ‘gifted’ Dr. Akwasi Acheampong vast land for the project to be in the town”.
