SSNIT to pay losses of every contributor– Director-General discloses
The Director-General of the Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT), Dr John Ofori Tenkorang, has stressed the importance of SSNIT’s contribution as a worker after one’s retirement age.
According to the D-G, contributing to SSNIT has numerous benefits and contributors will only see its benefits after going home or in a scenario where they cannot work.
“When that income you’re using disappears from you, the insurance company called SSNIT will come and replace that income from you. SSNIT is the foundation of pensions, Tier II is the block work, Tier III is the roof, and your little investments somewhere could finish the room”.
Dr. Ofori-Tenkorang spoke at an engagement with the informal sector in Ho and admonished both parents and children to take an interest in SSNIT seriously.
“You cannot always depend on your children for your retirement. Your children cannot guarantee your retirement support.
“Life expectancy is high and dependence on parents would affect us all. You would enter retirement while your parents are still alive and you will be burdened,” he stated
