Black Stars goalkeeper Jojo Wollacott confident ahead of World Cup qualifiers

Jojo Wollacott, the goalkeeper for the Black Stars, has expressed confidence in the team’s preparedness for the upcoming 2026 World Cup qualifiers.

Having missed the 2022 World Cup due to an injury, Wollacott is back in the squad and is optimistic about their chances in the qualifiers.

Ghana is set to face Madagascar on Friday, November 17, at the Baba Yara Stadium, followed by a match against Comoros four days later at the Stade de Moroni.

Speaking on his return to the squad, Wollacott shared, “It feels very good to be back. I was struggling with injury but I feel good and happy to be back.”

Acknowledging the competitive nature of the World Cup qualifiers, Wollacott emphasized the team’s serious approach to the games.

He stated, “If you remember the last time, it was a difficult journey, and we know what to expect, so we are taking these games very seriously. But I am sure we will get the victories.”

The Black Stars, led by head coach Chris Hughton, have left Accra for Kumasi, where they held their first training session behind closed doors.

The team is gearing up for the crucial matches with the aim of securing victories in their quest for World Cup qualification.
