The Director General of Ghana Education Service, Prof. Ernest Kofi Davis, has called for an end to examination malpractices ahead of the 2025 BECE, which commences on Wednesday, June 11th, 2025, across all examination centres in the country.
Speaking ahead of the BECE, the director encouraged the students and advised them against malpractices.
“Put in your best effort to excel. Do not rely on leaked answers (‘apor’) or any external support—it may not come, and it certainly won’t help you,” he said.
“We are calling on everyone to support efforts to eliminate examination malpractice. Any invigilator or supervisor caught aiding malpractice will face severe consequences, which could cost them their jobs. We expect good role models in this system,” he stated.
The Ghanaian Educational system is laden with an unimaginable examination malpractice from all angles: schools, invigilators, teachers and parents are all involved in malpractices, and it will take a massive effort to eradicate the behaviour. Prof. Kofi Ernest begged all stakeholders in education to encourage their wards to learn on their own and stay away from assisting them, especially invigilators. He disclosed that there will be a severe punishment for anyone who is caught encouraging the candidates to engage in ‘apor’.
The BECE starts on Wednesday with Social Studies and Computing, the first two papers on the day.
