The 50TH Sports Writers Association of Ghana’s awards promised to be so glamorous at the Accra International Conference Centre on Saturday night. With a star-studded personality gracing the occasion, Hearts of Oak and Black Stars number one goalkeeper Benjamin Asare continues to flourish in 2025 after being crowned the best player in Ghana.

After breaking into the Black Stars as the number one goalkeeper, Benjamin Asare has caught the eyes of Ghanaians with his good performances and humility.

The ex-Accra Great Olympics player is Otto Addo’s first-choice goalkeeper, and this award will definitely enrich his growing reputation.

Bournemouth’s Antoine Semenyo emerged as the Male Footballer of the Year after a wonderful start to the current campaign. He was instrumental in Bournemouth’s successful 2024-25 season.

TV3’s Bill Eshun was adjudged the Sports Journalist of the Year, with the UDS Football Team being awarded the SWAG Football Personality of the Year.

SWAG celebrated its half-century anniversary in style, with the biggest winner being Hearts of Oak’s skipper and goalkeeper Benjamin Asare announcing his presence at the top of the table.
