Mali, on paper, looked like the team to give Ghana a hot chase in Group I of the World Cup qualifiers.
The Eagles have failed to live up to expectations and are six points behind the Black Stars, and cannot afford to drop a point in their next two games.
Belgian tactician Tom Saintfiet announced a 25-man squad on Friday that will represent Mali during the September international break.
The squad is headlined by Young Africans’ number one goalkeeper, Djigui Diarra.
Braga’s Sikou Niakhate leads the defence with Palermo’s Salim Diakite and Fode Doucoure of Le Havre all included.
Mohamed Camara of Al Sadd, Al Ahly’s Aliou Dieng, and Kamory Doumbia of Brest are part of Saintfiet’s midfield.
In attack, Fernebahce’s Nene Dorgeles, Mamadou Doumbia of Watford, and Moussa Sylla of Schalke 04 are all part of the team.
Mali will host Comoros on 4th September in Bamako and travel to Accra to face Ghana in the make-or-break clash.
