Ghana will face four teams as part of preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, to be played across the USA, Canada and Mexico.
With less than 100 days left for the tournament, teams are finalising their preparations with international friendly games being lined up ahead of the competition.
The Ghana Football Association has officially confirmed Ghana’s games ahead of the coveted tournament.
Ghana will start preparations in Europe with a trip to Austria to face the senior national team in Vienna. Ghana will face two opponents from Europe in the group, hence the need to test the team against a European side.
The Black Stars are no strangers to the German national team, having faced them twice at the FIFA World Cup. When Ghana needed a tough European test, it was a no-brainer to choose Germany.
Otto Addo’s side will face a British opponent in Wales because Ghana will face a massive test against another British team, England. Cardiff City will welcome Ghana in May, where Otto Addo and his technical team will learn a thing or two about their British opponent.
Last preparations game will be against Mexico, who will co-host the tournament with neighbours USA and Canada. Mexico will open the competition on June 11th with a game against South Africa, which will be a repeat of the 2010 edition, where they drew 1-1 at FNB Stadium in Johannesburg. Although dates and kick-off time have been confirmed, the venue is yet to be confirmed by the Mexican Football Association. Ghana will face Panama in their opening game, and it is the reason why the Black Stars will meet Mexico, who is an opponent from CONCACAF.
