Celestine Ecua’s last-gasp equaliser helped Chad secure their first point of the qualifiers against Group I leaders Ghana. Jordan Ayew’s first-half strike helped Ghana take a lead which could have helped them be in a pole position to steal the sole slot, but the minnows fought hard and got a deserved 1-1 draw.

Mali smashed Comoros 3-0 in Bamako with Dorgeles Nene, Kamory Doumbia and Lassana Coulibaly all scoring to condemn Stefano Cusin’s Comoros to an embarrassing defeat.

Madagascar defeated Central Africa 2-0 and now occupies the second slot, having won 13 points from a possible 21.

Ezoo El Mariamy’s second-half goal was enough to ensure a 1-0 win for the visitors, Libya, against Angola in Luanda.

Cape Verde, which is surprisingly leading in Group D, won 2-0 at Mauritius. Cameroon, in the same group, defeated Eswatini 3-0 to close the point gap to one against leaders Cape Verde. An own goal from Gemedze and goals from N’Koudou and Avom condemned the minnows to an expected defeat.

Equatorial Guinea came from behind to defeat Sao Tome 3-2. Tunisia in Rhades dismantled Liberia by 3-0 with Ferjani Sassi among the scorers. Tunisia have now won 19 points from seven games and is looking the likeliest side to win Group H.

Guinea-Bissau drew 1-1 at home against Sierra Leone. Algeria, through Bounedjah’s brace, won 3-at Algiers against Botswana.
