The Accra Regional Police Command has confirmed the arrest of three individuals in connection with a shooting incident that occurred at the prestigious Celebrity Golf Club in Sakumono, a suburb of the Greater Accra Region, on the evening of Friday, October 18, 2025.
The arrests form part of ongoing investigations into what authorities describe as a “disturbing breach of public safety” at one of Accra’s most popular leisure and recreational facilities.
According to a statement released by the Police Service on Sunday, the suspects are currently in custody as investigators work to establish the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
The police further indicated that a manhunt has been launched to apprehend other individuals believed to be involved in the altercation.
“The Accra Regional Police Command has commenced investigations into a shooting incident that occurred yesterday, October 18, 2025, at the Celebrity Golf Club in Sakumono, Accra.
Three persons have so far been arrested in connection with the incident, while efforts are ongoing to arrest any other persons involved,” the statement read.
Although the police have not yet disclosed the names of the suspects or details about the nature of the dispute that led to the gunfire, eyewitnesses at the scene reportedly recounted hearing multiple gunshots late Friday night, sending patrons and staff running for safety.
It remains unclear whether any casualties were recorded, as the police have not released information on victims or the extent of injuries sustained.
The Celebrity Golf Club, located within the Tema West Municipality, has long been regarded as one of the finest golf and hospitality destinations, often attracting top business executives, expatriates, and public figures.
Incidents of violence at the venue are rare, making Friday’s occurrence a major source of concern for residents and visitors in the area.
Background checks reveal that the Sakumono enclave, though generally peaceful, has in recent years witnessed occasional security incidents, including armed robberies and violent disputes at entertainment spots.
Friday’s shooting, therefore, rekindles public anxiety over the adequacy of police presence and surveillance within the growing suburb.
The police have assured the public that every effort is being made to bring the perpetrators to justice.
“We wish to assure the public that we are committed to ensuring that all persons connected to this incident are arrested and face the full rigours of the law,” the police statement concluded.
Meanwhile, the management of the Celebrity Golf Club is said to be cooperating with the authorities and has reportedly tightened security at the facility to prevent a recurrence.
