A former church elder has shared how a well-meaning gesture led to a haunting chapter in his life. The 63-year-old man recounted his story about helping a woman who repaid his kindness with cruelty.

In an interview with Angel TV, the old man shared that he served as an elder in a parish known as the Church of Christ.

Unfortunately, a kind act as a Christian suddenly changed his life by leading him to spend an unbelievable 15 years in prison.

He described the troubling series of events that unfolded after he extended help to a young lady. “I was heading home from Accra late at night when I noticed a woman walking alone. I initially thought she was a church member, but after we boarded my car, I realized she wasn’t who I thought. I offered to let her out, but she insisted on continuing the journey with me because she had been standing for a long time,” he explained.

The man decided to accommodate her request, driving her to her destination before returning home to settle in for the night—at least, that’s what he thought.

He continued, “Two hours later, I heard a knock at my door. When I opened it, a small boy informed me that a woman was looking for me.” It was the same woman he had picked up earlier. She humbly asked for a place to sleep for the night so that she could continue her journey in the morning.

Out of goodwill, he allowed her to stay. The next morning, she knocked on his door, and he offered to drop her off where she could catch a ride.

However, not long after helping her, the authorities summoned him for questioning. He initially thought the police needed his assistance as a fridge repairman. Instead, he discovered that the woman had accused him of sexual assault, leading to charges being filed against him.

“I thought it was a joke, but before I knew it, I was taken from Ajumaku to Cape Coast,” he said.

“I spent one and a half years in remand before being sentenced to 15 years in prison. I arranged for an appeal, but the lawyer I hired mismanaged my money. After spending three and a half years at Nsawam Prison, I found conditions difficult and chose to return to Cape Coast Prison, where I served the remainder of his sentence.
