CAF Champions League results: Stade d’Abidjan 1-1 Orlando Pirates, TP Mazembe 1-1 Yanga

Round three of the CAF Champions League Money Zone started on Saturday afternoon with Dr Congo side Maniema drawing 1-1 against AS FAR from Morocco.

Round three of the CAF Champions League Money Zone started on Saturday afternoon with Dr Congo side Maniema drawing 1-1 against AS FAR from Morocco.

Exaucia Moanda, in the 37th minute, put the Congolese side ahead. The minnows went to the break leading the Moroccans by a lone goal. Former Petro Luanda defender To Caneiro, midway through the second half, restored parity for the away side. The game ended 1-1 with the Moroccans the happiest of the two teams as they secured a crucial point in their bid to progress to the quarter-finals.

Prince Dube’s 94th-minute goal helped Young Africans secure the first point of the campaign after a disastrous start. The Tanzanians had lost their two opening games and could not afford to lose in DR Congo. 21-year-old Malian forward Cheick Fofana, in the 42nd minute, scored from a penalty kick to give TP Mazembe the lead. The second half was competitive, with Yanga scoring so late to break the hearts of TP Mazembe fans.

Stade d’Abidjan secured their first point of the campaign after drawing 1-1 against Orlando Pirates in Abidjan. Bafana Bafana forward Evidence Makgopa, on the stroke of half time, scored a penalty kick to put the Bucs ahead. Ousmane Meite, with just eight minutes into the second half scored through a corner kick scramble to restore parity for the Ivorians. None of the sides were able to capitalise on the few chances created as the game ended 1-1.

Esperance, in the all-North African affair defeated the Egyptian side Pyramids 2-0. First-half goals from Youcef Belaili and Elias Mokwana were enough to help the Tunisians triumph over Pyramids.

Al Hilal continued their fine form by beating MC Alger 1-0 in Algeria to record three consecutive wins in Group A. Mauritanian midfielder Guessouma Fofafa snatched the winner in the 76th minute to shock the North Africans.
