The Central Africa Republic has announced former Cameroonian head coach Rigobert Song as the new head coach.

Caretaker coach Elonge Elsa Yamisi has been finally replaced ahead of the resumption of the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

The Central African country has announced the agreement between Rigobert Song and the Central African Football Federation on a two-year contract.

Rigobert Song took Cameroon to the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar and the 2023 AFCON in Ivory Coast.

In Group I of the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers, Central Africa Republic has lost two (4-2 v Comoros, 4-3 v Ghana), won one (1-0 v Chad) and drawn one (1-1 v Mali).

Song’s side will host Madagascar and Mali in March in rounds 5 and 6 of the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers. The Wild Beast sits in 5th place after winning four points from four games. They are five points behind leaders Comoros and Ghana, who have amassed 9 points each.
