British Heavyweight boxer, Tyson Fury has announced his retirement from boxing for the third time.
The 36-year-old had an undefeated record of 34 wins and one draw until he met Ukraine’s Usyk in 2024 in the first heavyweight undisputed contest of the four-belt era.
The Ukrainian boxer Oleksandr Usyk won the first meeting by split decision and backed up that performance with a unanimous decision victory last month hence dethroning the Gipsy King.
His announcement has not surprised many as it is his third time announcing his retirement from the sport.
In 2013 after a stunning victory over Cunningham, the British boxer announced his retirement but returned. In 2022 after beating Dillan Whyte, Fury once again retired but made a comeback so it is not surprising to hear the retirement announcement.
In a 17-second short video live on Instagram, the two-time world champion said, “Hi everybody, I’m going to make this short and sweet,” Fury said.
“I’d like to announce my retirement from boxing, it has been a blast, I’ve loved every single minute of it and I’m going to end with this; Dick Turpin wore a mask.”
Tyson Fury was expected to fight Anthony Joshua in all British affairs in 2025 but the Gypsy King has destroyed all hopes of a fight fans have craved for in the last decade.
