Reports from the Ghana Football Association say that the assistant coaches of Otto Addo, John Paintsil and Joseph Laumann are set to be sacked.
GFA believes the two assistant coaches have not helped Otto Addo achieve the nation’s aim and, hence, do not deserve to continue their roles.
John Paitsil is a former defender for the Black Stars who was part of the successful teams that played in World Cups (2006, 2010) and many AFCONs.
His appointment to be the deputy of Otto Addo was welcomed by the Ghanaian media with anger, as many made it clear that he didn’t deserve that role.
Moroccan-German tactician Joseph Laumann, 41, has had coaching experience in Germany and England at the top level, so his appointment was not met with much criticism like John Paintsil’s. Laumann is set to be sacked after Ghana’s disastrous 2024 campaign.
Ghana Football Association is currently in talks with a Belgian and a Serbian to take their places. For now, their identities are unknown, per JoySports reports.
Ghana failed to qualify for the 2025 AFCON, forcing many to demand the sacking of head coach Otto Addo and his coaching staff. The FA has confirmed that Otto Addo will continue his job, but they will make changes in the technical role.
