The 2024-25 CAF Confederation Cup ‘Money Zone’ came to an end on Sunday with all the final games played across the continent. The boys were separated from the boys after an intense six-round of games in the last three months.

Group A

Already eliminated CS Sfaxien of Tunisia thrashed Angolan side Bravos do Maquis by 4-0. It was Sfaxien’s first win in the competition after losing 5 successive games.

Simba SC defeated Algerian club Constantine 2-0 to the group. Kibu Denis and Leonel Ateb’s goals made sure Simba won the group.

Bravos do Maquis and CS SFaxien were eliminated while Simba and Constantine progressed.

Group B

Moroccan club RS Berkanwe won 16 points after winning 5 games and drawing only one to top the group. Berkane destroyed Stellenbosch of South Africa by 5-0 to show how formidable they were. Stellenbosch finished second with 9 points with CD Lunda Sul who won 1-0 in Mali against Stade Malien finished 3rd.

 

Group C

USM Alger topped the group with 14 points after a 2-0 win over Jaraaf of Senegal. Ivorian club ASEC Mimosas finished second after winning 8 points. The Ivorians smashed Orapa 4-0 to win the final slot. Jaraaf also won 8 points but bowed out due to an inferior head-to-head record against ASEC Mimosas. Orapa United of Botswana won only two points and subsequently finished bottom of the table.

Group D

Egyptian teams Zamalek and Al Masry qualified at the expense of Enyimba and Black Bulls. The Egyptians secured 14 and 9 points respectively. Enyimba finished third by winning 5 points. Bottom bottom-placed Black Bulls got only 4 points. Zamalek defeated Enyimba 3-1 as Al Masry also won 3-1 at home against Black Bulls.

 

** In all, a total of five teams from North Africa progressed to the quarter-finals. Two each from Egypt and Algeria and one from Morocco booked a place in the quarter-finals. East Africa, Southern Africa and West Africa each had one club the last one from Tanzania, South Africa and Ivory Coast.
