“We are going to host the best African Cup in history” – Walid Regragui

The competition is 11 months before kick-off in Morocco, but the connoisseurs of African football have predicted Morocco 2025 to be the best AFCON in history.

The 2023 edition in Morocco was watched across the globe, with an estimated 180 countries watching it. The tournament hosted in Ivory Coast had all the elements that make a tournament a success.

CAF president Patrice Motsepe and Fouzi Lekjaa, a senior civil servant of Morocco who is among the delegates of the competition, promised a wonderful tournament in North Africa.

Moroccan head coach Walid Regragui, during the group stage draw on Monday night disclosed that his country will host the best Africa Cup of Nations in history.

“We are going to host the best African Cup in history,” said Regragui.

“Morocco is a land of welcome and respect, but on the pitch, it will not be the same,” said the head coach.

Morocco is now the safe haven for many Africans in terms of sports as they have adopted the country as their home due to their inability to provide standard venues for CAF and FIFA games.

Moroccans are so friendly in life, but on the pitch, they are so hostile, as Walid Regragui said.

Teams must therefore prepare psychologically well ahead of the tournament because they are going to face the beast in the Atlas Lions of Morocco.

Morocco was drawn in Group A alongside Comoros, Zambia and Mali.

The tournament will be played across December 2025 and January 2026.
