Arne Slot’s debut campaign could be ranked among the best managerial debuts in the top flight of the English game. After over 8 years as the manager of Liverpool, Jurgen Klopp, who transformed Liverpool into serial contenders in every competition, decided to end his unique marriage with the Reds. It was left for the Liverpool hierarchy to make the best decisions for the club, and they decided to appoint Arne Slot, the manager of Dutch side Feyenoord. His presence was not expected to yield instant results, but the Dutchman defied all odds and lifted the English Premier League in his first season.

Arsenal’s 2-2 draw on last Wednesday at the Emirates Stadium against Crystal Palace meant any win against the shambolic Tottenham Hotspur was going to help them win their 20th league title.

The North London club took an early lead through Domonik Solanke with just 12 minutes played. Liverpool hit top form soon by scoring three goals in a space of 24 minutes through Luis Diaz, Mac Allister and Coady Gakpo to end the first half leading 3-1.

The impeccable Reds continued their mauling of Tottenham Hotspur by scoring twice in the second half through Mohamed Salah and an own goal from Destiny Udogie to break Tottenham Hotspur into pieces.

The 5-1 thrashing will end Ange Postecoglou’s reign as the manager of the London club.

Liverpool won their 20th league title and equalled rivals Manchester United’s record as the team with the most league titles in England.
