Despite Bibiani Gold Stars’ 2-0 defeat to Vision FC on Sunday in week 29 of the Ghana Premier League, head coach Frimpong Manso remains optimistic about their chances of defying all odds and lifting the league for the first time in their history.
Edward Agyeman and Emmanuel Asante’s second-half strikes condemned Gold Stars to a 2-0 defeat at the Nii Adjei Kraku II Sports Complex in Tema. Second-placed Nations lost 1-0 at Berekum Chelsea, which helped the leaders to maintain their five-point lead.
Third and fourth placed teams, Heart of Lions and Asante Kotoko, each won to close the gap but are five and six points adrift of the top.
Head coach of Bibiani Gold Stars, Frimpong Manso, is very confident that his team is still ready to win the league despite the defeat.
“We have four games left, three of them at home. We know it won’t be easy, but we’re motivated to push harder,” he said after the match. He added, “Even for the away game, we’ll fight for something. We’re still on course to win the league, Mnaso said.
Gold Stars have four games left and will host three at their safe haven, Dun’s Park, against Karela United, Asante Kotoko and Accra Lions. These are fixtures that the club expect to at least win seven points from to stand a greater chance of winning the league. The only away fixture left for the Bibiani-based club is a visit to Berekum Chelsea.
