DesThe Black Satellites of Ghana sit second in Group C of the AFCON U20 championship, currently ongoing in Egypt. They have won 4 points from two games. In the first game against D.R Congo, Ghana drew 1-1 in a fierce contest. On Monday night at Suez Stadium in Suez, Songdal’s forward Emmanuel Mensah’s early strike in the first half helped Ghana pip Senegal 1-0 to stand a huge chance to progress to the knockout stage of the competition.
Head coach of Ghana, Desmond Offei, in the post-match interview, revealed his expectations for the final fixture in the group against bottom-placed Central African Republic.
“We know the game against the Central African Republic will be difficult. But just like today, we’ll fight, prepare well, and give our best,” Offei said.
“Our main goal is to qualify for the World Cup. That’s the focus. Each match and positive result takes us a step closer,” Desmon added.
Ghana’s sole aim is to qualify for the FIFA U20 World Cup to be played in Chile later this year.
Africa has four slots, hence all the semi-finalists will book an automatic slot for the competition.
