Nsoatreman FC’s troubles run deep. The Nsoatre-based club has been in turmoil since the beginning of February 2025. The club’s week 19 fixture of the Ghana Premier League against Asante Kotoko ended in tragedy as the biggest hyper of the league, Francis Yaw Frimpong, was assassinated.

The news led to confusion in Ghana football, with the league being suspended for weeks. When the league returned soon after Pooley’s final funeral rites, the club honoured its first game, but they lost to Samartex.

En route to Bibiani to honour a league fixture, the club was attacked in Kukuom by an unnamed man wielding a gun and machete, per reports, which prompted police intervention. The attacker was apprehended and sent to the Bibiani Police Station for investigations.

Nsoatreman announced their withdrawal from the league, revealing that they could not guarantee the safety of the players, technical staff and the other entourage of the club that always travel to away games.

Club captain Daniel Afadzu, in an interview on Asempa FM Ultimate Sorts Show, revealed that the players have been paid just once since the club withdrew from the league.

“We have only received one month’s salary from the club owner, Ignatius Baffour Awuah”, – Afadzu revealed.

Before the withdrawal of the club from the league, the club owed the players more than three months. It means that in more than 6 months, Nsoatreman has paid the playing body only one month’s salary.

Nobody knows what exactly the future holds for the club because no decision has been made yet whether they will restart from the lowest division of Ghanaian football, all the club will be entirely dissolved.
