King Paluta is in a tough competition with Joe Mettle, Black Sherif, Team Eternity, Stonebwoy, Kweku Smoke and King Promise for the Artist of the Year 2024. The aforementioned artists are difficult to separate, considering how they fared in the year under review.
Three of his competitors have already walked home at least once with the gong, and it makes it so difficult for the ‘Apicki’ crooner, who many believe should be the winner for the 2025 edition, to be considered the sole favourite.
Stonebwoy has twice won it (2015,2024), Joe Mettle in 2017 won it, while Black Sherif took it to Konongo Zongo in 2023.
DJ Slim recently tweeted that none of the competitors had a better year than either Stonebwoy or King Promise, hence of them should win the award.
“I will be disappointed in the Ghana Music Awards if they give the artist of the year award to anybody apart from Stonebwoy or King Promise. You can’t show less interest in the scheme and expect to be awarded. This nonsense must stop,” DJ Slim said.
King Paluta responded by calling DJ Slim’s comment ‘loose talk’.
“Fada! This is loose talk !! So they should be awarded based on PR and not metrics? If someone doesn’t campaign and he deserves it, they shouldn’t give it to him ?? Dem for delete you all from the industry.”
King Paluta’s songs; For the Poppin and Makoma are two popular songs that can send him to the Promised Land.
Saturday, 10th May is the scheduled date for the 26th Ghana Music Awards.
