Energy Minister John Jinapor has assured Ghanaians of stable power by June 2025. The Minister, in an interview on TV3, disclosed that some of the power plants, especially the major ones.

“What I get is that within May, there will be major maintenance, and in June, there will be minimal maintenance. So, barring any unforeseen circumstances, we should be seeing a stable power supply, but we should be servicing these plants.”

Jinapor made it clear that in the month of May, there will be major maintenance of the key plants across the nation. Also, he hinted at minimum maintenance in June, and after the exercise, Ghanaians will see major improvements in power supply.

“These are plants that have gone far beyond their maximum operating hours. So, as a responsible government, we have to undertake the servicing,” the minister revealed.

It looks clear that ineffective plants have caused Ghana’s electricity problems. The minister told Ghanaians about how some of the plants have passed their usefulness, hence forcing the government to embark on a maintenance project of the plants.

“What I have realised is that if you hold them back for too long, you will compromise the integrity of the plant. So I want to appeal to Ghanaians that as we take this step, we will do everything within our power to reduce the impact, it is a necessary step”, he added.

Jinapor revealed that failing to speed up efforts to maintain the plants could further worsen the case.
