After over a week of intense investigation, the Ghana Police Service has arrested four individuals suspected of being involved in the brazen killing of a mobile money vendor in Aflao.

The suspects—three Ghanaians and a Nigerian—were apprehended during a joint operation on May 10, 2025.

The arrest follows the fatal armed robbery that occurred on April 28, 2025, at Gbagblakope near the Diamond Cement factory in Aflao.

At approximately 6:15 p.m. that evening, 39-year-old Christopher Ahordo, a well-known mobile money operator in the area, was attacked by a group of five unidentified armed men.

According to police reports, the assailants shot Ahordo and made away with a bag believed to contain a substantial amount of cash.

He died at the scene.
In response to the murder, the Volta Regional Police Intelligence Department (RPID) launched an investigation in collaboration with the Police SWAT Unit, the Operation Motherland Taskforce, and a local civilian group, ACTION NOW, which forms part of the Community Watch Committee in Aflao.

On May 10, between 12:00 noon and 2:00 a.m., the joint task force successfully arrested four suspects believed to be connected to the crime.

The suspects have been identified as Michael Sewornu, 34; Korku Agboada, 43; Atsu Agbagla, 36; and Utsuku Onyeso, 22, a Nigerian. All four are currently in police custody and are assisting with ongoing investigations.

The suspects were scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday, May 13, 2025, to face formal charges in connection with the killing.

The Ghana Police Service, in a statement signed by DSP Felix Danku of the Public Affairs Unit of the Volta Regional Command, commended the collaborative efforts that led to the swift arrests.
