Minister for Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwah, has announced Germany’s readiness to reach a deal with Ghana for a mobility agreement to allow thousands of Ghanaians to be employed in the Western European nation.
The news was announced via his X wall after he met with German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul and other government officials in Berlin.
Ablakwah bulleted:
“Germany is open to signing a labour mobility agreement with Ghana, which will allow thousands of Ghanaian youth to be employed in Germany under a special bilateral arrangement.
“This agreement, currently under discussion, would guarantee safe, rewarding and dignified employment similar to what Germany and Kenya signed recently. We expect the actual implementation soon.
“Great meetings with German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul, Mr. Joachim Stamp, the Special Representative of the Federal Government for Migration Agreements, and top officials of the German Interior Ministry on the margins of the UN Peacekeeping Ministerial ongoing in Berlin.
“President Mahama’s government believes in meaningful and impactful diplomacy, which boldly addresses the most important challenges confronting our people.
“For God and Country.

Many Ghanaians have made positive comments about the news because it will directly reduce unemployment, which is a major problem in the country.
The potential agreement is still under discussion, but the Minister believes that a deal will be reached soon.
Germany has the same agreement with Kenya, which has been helping many Kenyans to move to Germany for employment.
