The pressure has been drastically reduced on Black Stars head coach Otto Addo after the wins in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers in March. Ghana comfortably defeated Chad and Madagascar in rounds 65 5 and 6 of the qualifiers to open a three-point gap against second-placed Comoros.

The World Cup qualifiers will resume later this year, but in June, Ghana will face Nigeria in a friendly in London.

GFA Communications Director, Henry Twum Asante, has disclosed that Otto Addo will announce his team for the imminent June international break

Speaking in an interview on Akoma 87.9 FM, Henry Asante Twum hinted at new additions to the team.

“I know the technical team is considering how to approach this Cup. There will be some fresh additions while keeping the core of the team,” he stated.

“Possibly by next week, the coach will announce his team, and if we have local players, they will join the local contingents and move directly to London to begin preparations,” he revealed.

At least 5 local players from the Ghana Premier League are expected to be part of the team, with Benjamin Asare and Kamaradini Mamudu of Hearts of Oak and Medeama SC expected to retain their slots. Bechem United’s striker, Stephen Amankonah, who is leading the GPL goalscoring chart, is tipped to be called up. The other two remain unknown.

Rumours say that Le Havre’s veteran forward Andre Ayew could return to the team after being missing for a long time.
