Pitso Mosimane has been jobless since leaving the Iranian side of Esteghal in January 2025 due to poor performances and financial issues. After a five-month absence, the former Mamelodi Sundowns manager is ready to return to coaching.

News emanating from Cairo says that the magical South African tactician is in talks with Egyptian giants Zamalek to become their new head coach.

According to Eram News in Abu Dhabi, Mosimane will meet with Zmalek authorities for discussion this week.

“Mosimane welcomed coaching Zamalek in the coming period,” a source said per Eremnews.com.

“A meeting will be held with the South African coach to determine the salary.

“Once all contractual matters are approved, the contracts will be officially signed, and his appointment as coach of the Whites will be announced.

“Zamalek has set a fee of $80,000 (R1,4 million) to $100,000 (R1,7 million) to hire a new foreign coach to succeed Ayman El-Ramady.”

Zamalek recently parted ways with former Super Eagles of Nigeria head coach, Jose Peseiro, after he failed to satisfy the club with his performances. The club is determined to return to the upper echelon of African Football after losing its spot to Pyramids for three consecutive seasons.

The White Knights won the CAF Confederation Cup last season and are the holders of the CAF Super Cup, but have been abysmal in the Egyptian Premier League.

Reports from Egypt also say that former Sundowns and Wydad Casablanca head coach Rulani Mokwena is also a target for Zamalek for their vacant head coach role.

Pitso Mosimane twice won the CAF Champions League with the rivals of Zamalek, Al Ahly, in the 2019-20 and 2020-21 seasons. Many football fans have started discussing how he will be welcomed in Cairo by Al Ahly fans if he joins Zamalek.
