The Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital is under major renovation, and His Majesty Otumfour Osei Tutu II dreams of making it one of the biggest hospitals in Africa.
The Maternity Block needs massive help, and the president of Ghana, His Excellency John Dramani Mahama, has promised to help make it incredible and befitting.
On Monday, June 2, at the Jubilee House, the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, and a delegation of powerful chiefs visited the president, where he revealed that he will help finish the KATH Maternity Unit project.
“In the Health Sector, we will continue and complete the Sewua and Afari Military Hospitals. We will also continue to complete the KATH maternity and children blocks.”
The new block is expected to provide specialised services in areas such as paediatric neurology, haematology, cardiology, and respiratory care when the five-storey facility is completed for maternity purposes. It will also provide a Mother and Baby Unit, a Paediatric Infectious Disease Unit, and a Renal Unit for children.
The old structure was demolished in 2021, and it’s been four years now, the project is yet to be completed.
