At the 46th anniversary of the June 4 uprising at Agormanya Larsi Park in the Eastern region of Ghana. The Functional Executive Committee (FEC) of the party made many proposals, including renaming the party’s national office after the late Jerry John Rawlings, pending approval from the National Executive Committee (NEC).

In a bid to make the founder of the party the most famous and respected figure of the party, the NDC has planned to honour him.

Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, the National Chairman of the party, Johnson Asiedu Nketiah speaking at the anniversary of the June 4 uprising, officially announced the plan.

“Party headquarters across the world are named after their founders. Ghana cannot be an exception. We will begin the process to rename our national headquarters as Rawlings House”.

Asiedu Nketiah revealed another plan to amend the party’s constitution to designate June 22, Rawlings’ birthday, as a significant party day.

“The entire month of June is proposed to be commemorated annually as ‘NDC Month,” Johnson said.

The NDC’s headquarters is located in Adama Avenue, Accra, the capital of Ghana.
