Bibiani Gold Stars won their first-ever Ghana Premier League title after smashing Accra Lions 4-0 on Sunday, on the final day of the season. Their competitors, Nations FC, lost 2-0 at home to Heart of Lions while Asante Kotoko lost 3-1n to Vision, helping the Miners to achieve their dream.
The season has ended, and the winners were not aware of the financial reward even on Sunday, which was the last matchday. The league’s organisers’ inability to inform the clubs of their financial rewards was a huge concern for everyone.
The winners of the 2024-25 Ghana Premier League, Bibiani Gold Stars, will be handsomely rewarded with a GHC 500,000 cash prize, as confirmed in the official prize money breakdown released by the Ghana Football Association (GFA). The second and third-placed teams will receive GHC 200,000 and GHC 100,000, respectively.
Nations FC finished second with just three points behind the winners, Gold Stars. The Abrankese-based club will earn GHS200,000 while third third-placed Heart of Lions will earn GHC 100,000.
The Ghana Premier League is one of the poorest leagues on the continent when it comes to finances. The 2024-25 season was played entirely without any headline sponsorship or major television deal.
