Mamelodi Sundowns will commence their campaign with a fixture against South Korean side Ulsan Hyundai in the late hours of Tuesday night at the Inter&Co Stadium in Orlando, Florida.

The runner-up of the 2024-25 CAF Champions League will face the Koreans with very high confidence.

Ahead of the game, the Brazilian goalkeeper’s coach, Kennedy Mweene, has expressed his optimism in the team.

“Even though we have a couple of youngsters in our team, it is important that we go there and compete and not just to participate,” declares Sundowns’ goalkeeper coach Kennedy Mweene.

Mweene is at his second CWC, having travelled to Japan as a player in 2016. The legendary former Zambian goalkeeper revealed the immense growth of the team.

“The team has been growing in leaps and bounds.

“With four teams, it gives us a chance as Africa as well, even though we are still crying about the number.

“Nevertheless, I think we just have to go and show our case.

“We know that it won’t be easy.

“It is a high-profile tournament, and everyone knows what we are going there to do.

“It won’t be easy, but we have to showcase our talent in South Africa and Africa at large,” says Mweene.

Mamelodi Sundowns will have to up their game against Ulsan Hyundai, Dortmund and Fluminense in the competition because they are two steps ahead of the opponents they have been facing in the Betway Premiership and the CAF Champions League.
