Swedish head coach Kim Lars Bjorkegren has named his final 24-woman squad for Ghana in the upcoming 2024 WAFCON. Black Queens’ squad includes talented footballers like goalkeeper Afi Amenyaku, defenders Comfort Yeboah, Ernestina Abambila and Anasthesia Achia, who are expected to lead the team from the back.

Stella Nyamekye, Evelyn Badu, Portia Boakye and Jennifer Cudjoe were included in the midfield.

Doris Boaduwaa, who has been scoring goals for the Black Queens recently, is part of the team’s attack. Princella Adubea, Sherifatu Sumaila, and Nancy Amoah also made the team.

The list in full:

Goalkeepers: Kerrie McCarthy, Afi Amenyaku and Cynthia Konlan Findib

Defenders: Ernestina Abambila, Susan Ama Duah, Josephine Bonsu, Nina Norshie, Portia Boakye, Louisa Aniwaa, Anasthesia Achiaa and Comfort Yeboah.

Midfielders: Nancy Amoah, Jennifer Cudjoe, Chantelle Boye-Hlorkah, Evelyn Badu, Grace Asantewaa, Jacqueline Owusu and Stella Nyamekye.

Forwards: Wasiima Mohammed, Sherifatu Sumaila, Doris Boaduwaa, Princess Dankwah Marfo, Alice Kusi and Princella Adubea.

Ghana’s preparations ahead of the imminent tournament to be played in Morocco ended in a 3-1 defeat against Nigeria. Ghana is Placed in Group C alongside South Africa, Mali and Tanzania. The Black Queens will open their campaign at the Honour Stadium in Oudja on 7th July against the Bayana Bayana of South Africa. The Black Queens will face Mali in MD2 and Tanzania in the final game of the group.
