Ghanaian Immigration Service officer, Stephen King Amoah's body was discovered at Kwabenya in the Greater Accra Region on Tuesday after going missing
Ghanaian Immigration Service officer, Stephen King Amoah’s body was discovered at Kwabenya in the Greater Accra Region on Tuesday after going missing for 6 days. The body was burned when he was discovered dead, forcing the family and Ghana Police Service to suspect his friend Bright Ave.
The reason why Stephen was murdered
Invited by his friend, Bright Ave, the Immigration officer had gone to meet him to collect GHC200,000, a debt his friend owed him.
According to reports, the deceased gave the money which he received from job-seeking individuals to Bright after promising them recruitment in government institutions.
The promise was not fulfilled, and Stephen needed to refund the money to the individuals, but Bright, who is said to have connections within government, kept disappointing him until July 3, around 8:29 p.m., when he asked Stephen to meet him at Ashongman Estates to collect the money.
At about 8:50 pm that same day, family and friends received suspicious messages from the deceased’s phone stating that he had received the money and had returned home safely.
This prompted them to follow up with phone calls, but they couldn’t reach him. It then became clear that something was wrong, and truly he was found wrapped in a bedsheet, burnt, with marks of multiple stabs on his body and his throat slit.
Bright Aveh’s arrest by the Ghana Police
Bright Av3eh was arrested on Thursday by the Ghana Police Service. Initially, when Bright was interrogated about the whereabouts of his friend, he claimed he had given Stephen an additional amount of GHC 300,000 for safekeeping, creating the impression that the Immigration officer had gone into hiding with the money.
According to the Police, WhatsApp Cash images link Bright to the crime.
