A former leader of the now-outlawed vigilante group, Delta Force, has resurfaced with disturbing threats against the New Patriotic Party (NPP), accusing the party of betrayal and vowing to unleash further chaos in future political events, particularly the upcoming Akwatia parliamentary by-election.
In a viral video circulating on social media, a middle-aged man identifying himself as the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the disbanded Delta Force, openly mocked the NPP’s internal chaos during the recent Ablekuma North parliamentary rerun, where violence and disruptions marred the electoral process.
According to him, the violence that occurred was only the beginning of what lies ahead for the ruling party.
Bitter Grievances
Delta Force and the Invisible Force were notorious pro-NPP vigilante groups that gained national infamy during and after the 2016 elections.
Originally formed to “protect party interests,” they quickly became synonymous with political violence, lawlessness, and impunity.
Following national outrage and bipartisan condemnation of political vigilantism, the Akufo-Addo administration in 2019 passed the Vigilantism and Related Offences Act to disband such groups.
But the man in the viral video insists that the group was unfairly cast aside after helping the NPP secure power. “We sacrificed our lives to bring the NPP into power in 2016,” he said.
“But after the victory, they arrested and remanded us for asking for employment. Then they passed a law to disband us.”
He implied that the recent assault on NPP officials in Ablekuma North was a form of retribution for how the party abandoned its loyal foot soldiers.
“What happened in Ablekuma North is small. The NPP has not seen anything yet,” he warned ominously.
Warnings of Escalation
In an even more alarming declaration, the former vigilante leader issued a chilling prediction that a senior NPP member would die during the upcoming Akwatia by-election.
“This is a prophecy,” he stated. “A leader of the NPP will die during the Akwatia by-election. The thugs will kill one bigwig to show you that you were not wise in the way you dealt with us.”
He continued his threats by calling on former members of the Delta and Invisible Forces to abstain from offering any security support to the party.
“Let the NPP leadership bring their mothers, wives, and children to protect them. You fooled us once—it won’t happen again.”
Command Over a Dormant Force
The man claimed that although the group is publicly disbanded, he still holds significant influence over its members.
“When I speak, the boys listen. When I command them to move, they do. When I order them to sleep, they sleep—and they are sleeping now,” he said, hinting at the potential for renewed violence at his directive.
