A 53-year-old man, Alhaji Abdulai Sayuti, who was arrested for unlawful possession and sale of pharmaceutical drugs, has collapsed in court.

He was arrested on Tuesday, July 15, 2025, during an intelligence-led operation at Victory cinema near Aboabo, where he operates an over-the-counter chemical shop.

Alhaji Sayuti was arraigned before the court on Wednesday, the 16th, where he pleaded guilty to charges of possessing and selling restricted drugs without authorisation.

He reportedly collapsed during court proceedings and was rushed to the Tamale Teaching Hospital for medical attention.

A search at his shop by the police uncovered blisters of tramadol and blisters of tramaking, both classified as restricted under Ghanaian law.

Upon further investigation at his residence at Fuo, a suburb of Tamale, a warehouse containing 447 boxes of tramadol and 11 boxes of tramadol-making was discovered.
