The Ministry of Sports and Recreation has issued a public warning against individuals, groups, and organizations that are unlawfully announcing and promoting Esports tournaments, claiming to represent the nation.
The ministry has specifically highlighted a social media post promoting a “Ghana Esports League” that has not been sanctioned by the Ghana Esports Federation (GESF), the sole officially recognized regulatory authority for Esports in Ghana.
GESF’s Authority
The Ghana Esports Federation is the only entity with the legal and institutional authority to organize national Esports competitions or events claiming to represent Ghana or using the name “Ghana” in an official Esports capacity.
The ministry has emphasized that unauthorized use of Ghana’s national identity in any Esports context without explicit approval from the GESF constitutes a violation of national sports protocols.
Consequences of Unauthorized Use
Those responsible for unauthorized use of Ghana’s national identity in Esports events will face legal action. The ministry is committed to upholding the integrity of Ghana’s Esports industry and fostering the rightful growth of the gaming community on the global stage.
Collaboration And Compliance
The ministry is calling on all stakeholders to collaborate and comply with the regulations governing Esports in Ghana.
By working together, the ministry aims to ensure that the Esports industry in Ghana is developed and promoted in a responsible and sustainable manner.
Protecting Ghana’s Esports Industry
The ministry’s warning is a timely reminder of the importance of protecting Ghana’s national identity and ensuring that all Esports events are conducted in a fair and transparent manner.
