A 35-year-old woman named Faustina Ackom was shot on Sunday by her husband, 41-year-old Wahibu Bukari, who suspected her of being unfaithful.
This incident occurred in Anum, located in the Assin North district of the Central region.
Faustina was reportedly shot during a disagreement related to accusations of infidelity.
Faustina has injuries on the inside of her left arm and her chest and is currently being treated at St. Xavier Hospital in Assin Fosu. The couple has been married for ten years and has four children.
Witnesses reported that they heard Faustina shouting for help at approximately 1:00 am on Sunday.
Lydia Yeboah stated that the suspect, who had been unwell for a while, believed that his wife, who is a trader, was being unfaithful.
Bukari reportedly discovered some phone numbers on his wife’s phone and woke her up at approximately 12:30 am on Sunday to ask her about them, as he suspected she was being unfaithful with the individuals associated with those numbers.
Witnesses reported that during the subsequent argument, Bukari reportedly shot her in the left arm and breast as she tried to escape.
Faustina’s call for assistance drew the attention of nearby residents, who hurried to assist her.
The suspect is on the run after realising the heinous crime he has committed.
Assin Fosu, Kushia and Twifo Praso are among the places the suspect is believed to have fled to.
Police investigations are underway, and they have visited the victim at the hospital for further information.
