The Member of Parliament (MP) for Ayensuano Constituency in the Eastern Region, Ida Adjoa Asiedu, has assured her constituents of her commitment to working closely with the Ayensuano District Assembly to accelerate development across key sectors including education, health, agriculture, and security.

The MP made this declaration when she joined the Ayensuano District Assembly at Coaltar on Monday, August 18, 2025, for its First Ordinary Meeting of the Second Session of the Fourth Assembly.

The gathering brought together the District Chief Executive (DCE), Joshua Lartey, Assembly Members, heads of departments, traditional leaders, and residents to deliberate on the district’s progress and challenges

DCE’s Maiden Address

In his maiden sessional address, the newly appointed DCE, Joshua Lartey, expressed gratitude to President John Dramani Mahama for his appointment and pledged to serve with dedication.

He provided an update on the Assembly’s financial performance, revealing that the district had collected GH₵711,747.94 from local revenue sources by the end of the second quarter—representing 47.45% of its 2025 target of GH₵1.5 million.

To improve revenue mobilization, the Assembly has strengthened checkpoints, trained revenue collectors, and embarked on community sensitization exercises in towns such as Teacher-Mante, Asuboi, Coaltar, and Amanase.

The DCE further disclosed that the district had received GH₵2.17 million from the District Assemblies Common Fund (DACF) for the first quarter of 2025.

This represents a significant 800% increase compared to allocations in previous years.

However, he noted that the funds come with strict expenditure guidelines and would be applied to projects that directly promote socio-economic development.

MP Outlines Vision for Development

Addressing the Assembly, Ida Adjoa Asiedu outlined her development priorities for Ayensuano, stressing the importance of a collaborative approach between the legislature and local government.

On education, she pledged to renovate dilapidated school blocks, provide desks, award scholarships to brilliant but needy students, and sustain her initiative of distributing mathematical sets to JHS candidates.

These, she explained, would improve access to quality education and learning conditions.

In the health sector, the MP emphasized the need for preventive and curative measures, support for immunization drives, and improved infrastructure.

She announced plans to provide hospital beds, supply equipment to struggling facilities, and collaborate with NGOs to expand access to mechanized boreholes and additional health centers.

Touching on security, Asiedu, who also serves on Parliament’s Defence and Interior Committee, promised to provide more streetlights to combat crime and strengthen community policing in the constituency.

On agriculture, she said she would support farmers with improved seedlings, subsidized agrochemicals, and lobby for better road networks in farming communities to enhance productivity and ensure food security.

Commitment to Shared Progress

Ida Adjoa Asiedu also reaffirmed her support for vulnerable groups, promising to expand the Abadae Care Plan, a social intervention scheme she initiated to assist struggling families.

She stressed that her vision for Ayensuano aligns with the Assembly’s mission of promoting effective governance and service delivery.

“Together, we can make Ayensuano a model of progress,” she told the Assembly, urging all stakeholders to unite in driving sustainable development for the district.

The meeting ended on a note of optimism, with both the MP and DCE pledging to forge a strong working relationship to address challenges and harness opportunities for the growth of Ayensuano.
