The Ghana Tennis Federation, together with New York Square LLC, has granted a training scholarship to Sisu-Makena Tomegah, a talented junior tennis player from Ghana.

This scholarship will allow her to train at XS Tennis Academy in Chicago as she works towards becoming a professional athlete. Tomegah’s growth has been quite remarkable.

She won the Sydney Katz Junior Open Under-16 girls title by making a notable comeback to defeat the top-seeded Tracy Ampah with scores of 4–6, 6–3, and 10–6 in a super tie-break.

Her determination and calmness distinguished her as one of Ghana’s most promising young talents.

Tomegah recently achieved a significant milestone by winning the ITF World Tour Juniors event in Accra, making her the first Ghanaian woman to accomplish this.

She won a challenging three-set match against Nigeria’s Ohunene Comfort Yakubu with scores of 6–2, 6–7(4), and 6–2 in front of an enthusiastic home crowd.

With support from the Ghana Tennis Federation and this new scholarship, Tomegah has the opportunity to develop his skills internationally.

Sisu Tomega expressed her excitement for the opportunity

“This means a lot to me. I would like to thank God for this opportunity first of all, and I would like to thank everyone who is involved in this organisation to be able to recognize this for me as a talent and sending me on this journey; this means a lot to me. Ghana Premier League match tickets

“Actually, I feel like this is a big opportunity that I have to really hold on to”, she said.

Richard Akpokavie, the president of the Ghana Olympic Team’s comments

“This is exactly what the athlete needs. A door is open for her that she needs to take advantage of because it’s a top-class facility that trains top-class athletes.

“So once she does well, she opens other doors. This is not the end, it’s the beginning. It opens other doors. It’s not only going to open other doors for other athletes in tennis, it also puts Ghana’s name somewhere,” he concluded.
