Tottenham lost 22 Premier League games in the 2024-25 season. It was the first time they finished outside the top 10 in over a decade and a half.

Simply, their season was so horrible, despite winning their first major trophy in 17 years under Angelos Postecoglou, where they beat Manchester United 1-0 to lift the Europa League in Bilbao

The Greek-Australian manager was sacked by Daniel Levey, with Brentford’s manager replacing him.

Thomas Frank’s bid to revamp Tottenham’s squad began with the acquisition of Ghanaian forward Mohammed Kudus from West Ham United in a deal worth 55 million pounds.

Kudus impressed in the UEFA Super Cup defeat on penalties against European Champions PSG. In his first league game for his new club, Kudus twice provided an exquisite assist to Brazilian striker Richarlison, who did just to those crosses.

“We just played the first game and scored three goals, so I think that was pretty promising. I know it’s a long season, and we need enough players and players with different abilities. I think in some of the players we have, Kudus has got that spark and creativity,” Frank told the press ahead of the club’s visit to Manchester City.

The Danish manager talked about the numerous and fantastic options at his disposal in his attack, where he shared the versatility of his attackers.

“Wilson does very well, I think Mathys Tel can play different positions. We’ve got two good strikers in Dom and Richy, and then Brennan, the deep runner. I think we’ve got variation up the pitch, but again, we look out there, and if there is anything that can strengthen it, and that is in all areas, then we are open for it.”

Tottenham Hotspur, on Saturday morning, will travel to the Etihad Stadium to face Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City, who hit top form on matchday one when they pulverised Wolverhampton Wanderers 4-0.

Tottenham won 4-0 at the Etihad last season, and a repeat of that feat will be an incredible scoreline on Saturday morning.
