20-year-old Ghanaian forward Fatawu Issahaku scored a wonderful goal that helped Leicester City snatch a precious away win at the Valley against Charlton Athletic in London in week 3 of the English Championship.
The early kick-off was expected to be a cagey affair after newly promoted side Charlton won four points from the possible six in the opening two games of the season.
Fatawu Issahaku’s gorgeous strike from inside the box won many hearts. The Ghanaian picked the ball from the right-hand side in Charlton’s half. He controlled and moved it to his favourite left foot. He then opened his body and unleashed a wonderful curling effort which ended at the far end of the home team’s net.
“This was the moment I have been waiting for”, he said when speaking to Leicester City media.
“It was a good time to take it [the shot]”, he continued.
Fatawu Issahaku is looking sharper and sharper and sharper after returning from an ACL injury, which kept him out of the Foxes’ battle for survival last season. He expressed his delight and thanked the club for the wonderful way they have protected him.
“I just want to say that I’m so happy with the team and everyone supporting my rehab, and it’s good to have a moment like this to feel happy,” the young Ghanaian said.
Everton tested Leicester City for a transfer for Fatawu, but it looks so clear that he is staying to help the Foxes return immediately to the top tier of English Football.
Leicester City have won six points from three games and sit in seventh place on the Championship log.
Charlton, on the other hand, sits in 14th place, having amassed 14 points from three games.
Leicester City hosts Birmingham City at the King Power Stadium over the weekend, with Issahaku expected to play a crucial role in the fight for the three points.
