Antoine Semenyo was racially abused by a man from Liverpool when Bournemouth visited Liverpool at Anfield in the first game of the season.
Referee Anthony Taylor stopped the game when he got information that Semenyo had been abused.
The abuser was removed from the stadium, and the game continued.
Ahead of the first international break of the new campaign, where Otto Addo included the Bournemouth forward in his list for the Chad and Mali games, the GFA has expressed their disappointment in the incident and assured the striker of immense support.
“We stand firmly with our Black Stars forward, Antoine Semenyo, following the racial abuse he suffered at Anfield,” the statement from GFA read.
“In the face of provocation, Antoine showed strength, grace, and unity. On the pitch, he scored twice; off it, he reminded us of what football truly represents — respect, solidarity, and love for the beautiful game,” the GFA added.
“We are proud of you, Antoine. We stand with you”, the GFA said.
Antoine Semenyo scored a wonderful brace when they lost 4-2 against Liverpool, earning massive praise from football fans.
