The legal fraternity and followers of Evangelist Patricia Asiedua, popularly known as Nana Agradaa, have been thrown into mourning following the sudden death of her lawyer, Ali Adam, who passed away on Saturday, August 30, 2025.
Ali Adam, who had in recent months been a prominent voice in the defence of the controversial evangelist, reportedly died under unexpected circumstances at his home.
According to family sources, the lawyer woke up in good health on the morning of his death, engaged warmly with his wife and friends, and even responded to calls and WhatsApp messages before tragedy struck.
Close family friend, Sahadatu Alhassan, narrated the heartbreaking events leading to his passing.
She disclosed that after Adam returned home from an early morning routine, he asked his wife to prepare him breakfast.
However, when she returned minutes later with the meal, she found him struggling to breathe and moments away from death. Efforts to revive him proved futile.
On her Facebook page, Sahadatu expressed the grief of those close to him, writing:
“This young man woke up full of life this morning. He exchanged laughter, made calls, and responded to messages. But within minutes, as his wife brought his breakfast, she found him taking his final breath. Just like that, he was gone. What are we really fighting for in this life? May Allah grant you Jannah, my honorable.”
A Lawyer In The Spotlight
Ali Adam’s name became widely known in Ghana’s legal and entertainment circles after he took on the defence of Nana Agradaa, a former fetish priestess turned evangelist, who has faced several fraud-related charges over the past years.
Agradaa was convicted by the Accra Circuit Court in July 2025 on charges of charlatanic advertisement and defrauding by false pretence.
The case stemmed from her infamous “money-doubling” scheme that dates back to 2022, where she lured unsuspecting victims into parting with their money in exchange for false promises of financial multiplication.
Adam was among the lawyers who strongly criticised the court’s ruling, describing Agradaa’s 15-year jail sentence with hard labour as “excessive” and “driven by public pressure rather than evidence.”
He consistently argued that the GH¢540 involved in the case was too trivial to warrant such a heavy punishment and vowed to appeal the judgment.
Community Shock And Mourning
News of his passing has left both the legal community and Agradaa’s followers in shock, given the crucial role he played in her ongoing legal battles.
His sudden death has also raised concerns about the toll such high-profile cases may take on lawyers representing controversial figures in the public eye.
Tributes continue to pour in on social media, with many describing him as a young, vibrant, and committed lawyer who had much more to offer.
