The conveyor belt of football talent continues to attract global attention, with three young Ghanaians—Caleb Yirenkyi, Prince Amoako Jr, and Bismarck Edjeodji—earning nominations for the Danish Superliga Young Player of the Month award for August.
The recognition not only underscores their individual brilliance but also highlights the growing influence in European football through academies and domestic clubs.
From Right To Dream To Europe
Two of the nominees, Caleb Yirenkyi and Prince Amoako Jr, are products of the Right to Dream Academy, the most successful talent development hub that has exported dozens of players to Europe over the past two decades.
The academy, closely linked with FC Nordsjaelland in Denmark, has become a direct pathway for Ghanaian prospects to showcase their abilities on the European stage.
Yirenkyi, a 19-year-old right-back, enjoyed a standout August for FC Nordsjaelland, scoring once and providing an assist in 300 minutes of play.
His performances not only caught the eye of fans in Denmark but also earned him a call-up to the Black Stars, where he made his senior debut in the 2026 World Cup qualifier against Chad on September 4.
He is tipped to feature again in Ghana’s upcoming clash with Mali in Accra.
His compatriot Amoako Jr, just 18, has been equally impressive. Since making his Superliga debut in July, the young forward has scored two goals in five appearances, quickly establishing himself as one of the most exciting attacking prospects in the league.
From Bechem United To Denmark
The third nominee, Bismarck Edjeodji, represents a different success story. Unlike Yirenkyi and Amoako, his career began in the Ghana Premier League with Bechem United, where his creativity and composure in midfield attracted European scouts.
Since joining Vejle Boldklub in July, the 18-year-old has registered three assists in six matches, adapting seamlessly to the demands of Danish football.
Strong Competition for the Award
The Ghanaian trio will compete against Denmark’s own Thomas Jorgensen (Viborg) and Hjalte Bidstrup (Viborg), as well as Clement Bischoff, who recently transferred from Brøndby IF to Red Bull Salzburg.
The award will be decided through fan voting, with the results expected after the international break.
