A shocking case of suspected ritual murder has rocked East Legon, Accra, following the discovery of the mutilated body of a 21-year-old house help, identified only as Abena, inside her employer’s residence.

Abena, originally from Nkawkaw in the Eastern Region, had only relocated to Accra three months ago in search of work.

According to family members, she took up the house help job with the hope of raising money to support her ailing mother back home.

Tragically, that dream was cut short after she allegedly fell victim to a ritual killing.

Police sources and eyewitness accounts reveal that parts of her body, including her breast, vagina, fingers, and toes, had been removed when her remains were eventually discovered.

The prime suspect in the case is her employer, a 49-year-old businessman widely known in the East Legon enclave.

His identity, however, has been withheld by the authorities pending ongoing investigations.

According to reports, the businessman informed members of his household that he was embarking on a business trip shortly before the incident came to light.

About a week later, residents of the neighborhood began complaining about a strong stench that appeared to be coming from his residence.

Alarmed by the foul odour, neighbours alerted the East Legon police, who immediately dispatched a team to investigate.

Upon entering the four-bedroom house, officers traced the smell to one of the guest rooms, where they found Abena’s body concealed in a large black polythene bag.

The gruesome discovery has sparked fears of ritual practices, especially as the prime suspect has since not returned from his supposed business trip.

Police sources say the manner in which the body was mutilated raises strong suspicion of money rituals.

Residents of East Legon, still in shock over the incident, have expressed concern over what they describe as a growing wave of ritual-related killings in parts of Accra and are calling for swift justice.

Meanwhile, the East Legon police have launched a manhunt for the businessman and are appealing to the public for information that could lead to his arrest.

Family members of the deceased, still struggling to come to terms with the tragic news, are calling on authorities not to allow the “big man” behind the murder to escape justice.
