Dada KD goes home September 20

The family of renowned Ghanaian highlife musician Dada Kwaku Duah, affectionately known as Dada KD, has announced that his final funeral rites will be held on Saturday, September 20, 2025, at the State House Forecourt in Accra.

This follows a series of postponements, with the initial date set for August 16, 2025, and later rescheduled to September 6, 2025.

A Fitting Tribute

The decision to postpone the funeral was made after careful consideration by the family, who are determined to organize a fitting tribute to the musician’s enduring legacy.

According to a family representative, “This is not just a funeral but a celebration of a true legend whose voice and songs will live forever in our hearts.”

The family has assured the public that further details of the funeral program will be shared soon and has asked fans and sympathizers to keep Dada KD in their thoughts and prayers.

Legendary Career

Dada KD’s career spanned decades, captivating audiences with his voice, emotional delivery, and mastery of traditional Ghanaian rhythms blended with heartfelt storytelling.

His songs, which often explored themes of love, life, and culture, are cherished by both older generations and today’s youth. Some of his notable hits include “Tekyere Ma,” “Ene Menye,” “Wosuro a Wondi,” and “Honey Love”.

State-Assisted Burial

The state-assisted burial ceremony will be followed by a final thanksgiving service on Sunday, September 21, 2025, at Agona Asamang in the Ashanti Region, the late musician’s hometown.

The Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA) paid a courtesy call on the Tourism and Creative Arts Minister, Abla Dzifa Gomashie, to brief her on the final funeral arrangements.

The funeral will be a celebration of Dada KD’s life and legacy, with dignitaries, fellow musicians, industry stakeholders, and countless fans expected to attend.
