Former British boxer Ricky Hatton was found dead on Sunday morning at his home in Hyde, Manchester.

The 46-year-old’s demise has thrown the sporting world into mourning mood, with tributes pouring in for the Manchester-born boxer.

Manny Pacquiao, the only eight-division world champion in boxing history, paid tribute to the former British super boxer.

Pacquaio’s tribute;

“I am deeply saddened to hear about the passing of Ricky Hatton. He was not only a great fighter inside the ring but also a brave and kind man in life,” Pacquiao writes on X.

“We shared unforgettable moments in boxing history, and I will always honour the respect and sportsmanship he showed.”

Hatton fought both in the ring and “in his journey through life,” Pacquiao continues, and says it was a blessing to have been part of his journey.

Greater Manchester Police said they are not treating the death as suspicious.

Official Statement from the Manchester Police

“A member of the public called officers to attend Bowlacre Road, Hyde, Tameside, at 6.45 am today, where they found the body of a 46-year-old man. There are not currently believed to be any suspicious circumstances.”

An emotional minute of applause was given to Ricky Hatton ahead of the Manchester Derby, where City defeated United by 3-0. The lifelong Manchester City fan honoured at his favourite Etihad Stadium

The former boxer held multiple world championships in the light welterweight division and one at welterweight.
