Popular Ghanaian actor Michael Peasah, better known as Drogba from the hit TV series YOLO, has clarified reports surrounding a viral video that falsely claimed he had been completely healed of his health conditions after attending a Christ Embassy Youth Church (CEYC) service in August 2024.
Pesah, who has been battling multiple rare neurological disorders, said his testimony was misrepresented by a blogger, leading to public misunderstanding and affecting his medical fundraising efforts.
In an interview with DJ Slim, Pesah explained that while he experienced a brief moment of relief during the CEYC healing service, it was not a full recovery.
“I noticed I could sit on a chair for more than an hour. That was something I hadn’t been able to do for a long time. Also, anytime I took off my nose mask, I suffered severe anxiety. But in the church, when I removed it, there was no anxiety. So, I was happy and felt comfortable. It was a miracle for me,” Pesah recalled.
He said this moment inspired him to share a testimony of feeling “better,” but it was exaggerated online.
“Since I felt a bit relieved, I just testified that I felt some relief. But I was still in pain. My issue isn’t with the pastor or the members; my issue is with the blogger who cut my words, twisted them, and wrote, ‘Drogba said he is healed.’ That was false.”
Pesah noted that the misinformation had damaging effects, especially on his donors who might have assumed his condition had been resolved.
“By then, the news had already spread. It was affecting the donations I depend on for treatment. What the blogger did was very wrong,” he stressed.
In 2024, Pesah publicly revealed that he is living with multiple serious health conditions, including:
-
- Sleep Apnoea Syndrome
- Stiff Person Spectrum Disorder – a rare neurological condition that causes painful spasms and severe muscle stiffness
He later launched a GoFundMe campaign in August 2024 to raise $280,000 for urgent medical treatment abroad, explaining that his resources had been exhausted by the high costs of ongoing care.
Despite his challenges, Pesah continues to receive widespread support from fans and colleagues in the Ghanaian entertainment industry, many of whom have rallied behind his fundraising campaign.
