Bruno Large demands 5 million euros yearly salary to sign for Al Ahly

Egyptian giants Al Ahly have offered a mind-blowing 4.8 million euros yearly salary to Portuguese head coach Bruno Lage.

The Cairo-based club are not new to hiring top-notch coaches, but their ambition to offer a 4.8 million annual salary is unbelievable, even though Lage has refused to accept it and is demanding 5 million euros annually

Al Ahly have gotten off to a bad start in the 2025-26 Egyptian Premier League, leading to the sacking of Spanish head coach Jose Riveiro, who joined them right before the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup, which was won by Chelsea in the U.S.A.

The Spanish tactician was sacked after just four games into the new Egyptian season, where he recorded just one win.

Emad El-Nahhas replaced the sacked Spaniard and has won seven points from the available nine, having drawn with ENPPI and beaten Ceramica Cleopatra and Haras El Hodood, yet he is not being considered.

Bruno Lage was replaced by the legendary Jose Mourinho at the hot seat of Benfica after they lost 3-2 against Qarabaq from Azerbaijan.

After a thorough search, Al Ahly have identified the experienced 49-year-old Portuguese tactician Lage as the right man for the job.

Lage has managed Benfica, Wolverhampton Wanderers and Botafogo so far in his coaching career.

Al Ahly has, in the last decade, worked with Grade A managers like Martin Jol, Patrice Carteron, Reine Weiler, Pitso Mosimane, Ricardo Soares and Marcel Koller.

The Red Devils currently sit in sixth position with 12 points. They trail leaders Zamalek by five points with a game in hand.
