Hohoe United produced one of the standout performances of the weekend, thrashing previously unbeaten Karela United 4-1 at the Hohoe Sports Stadium. William Oduro opened the scoring after capitalising on a defensive error, and captain Usman Sufianu doubled the lead with a composed finish. Though Karela pulled one back via a Bless Ege penalty, Sufianu’s second and Sena Ati’s late strike sealed a dominant win for the hosts. The result not only ended Karela’s unbeaten run but also signalled Hohoe’s intent to challenge for top-half relevance.

In Kumasi, Asante Kotoko at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium played a disappointing goalless draw with league leaders Heart of Lions. Albert Amoah’s spectacular bicycle kick nearly gave the Porcupine Warriors the lead, but unfortunately rattled the crossbar. The result preserved Heart of Lions’ unbeaten run in the new season.

Medeama bounced back from last week’s defeat with a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Nations FC in Tarkwa. Emmanuel Owusu’s first-half goal was cancelled out by Nations’ equaliser, but Salim Adams’ late strike secured all three points for the former champions. Medeama’s efficiency in front of goal and set-piece threat proved decisive, lifting them to second place, just one point behind Heart of Lions. Nations FC, meanwhile, have just recorded a single win and is under huge pressure to turn their season around.

Elsewhere, Eleven Wonders and Young Apostles clashed in Agona Swedru in a battle of struggling sides. Though full match details remain sparse, the fixture highlighted the challenges faced by newly promoted teams trying to find consistency. Eleven Wonders, still adjusting to top-flight intensity after a three-year absence, are yet to register a win, while Young Apostles continue to search for rhythm amid a competitive league landscape.

Veteran striker John Antwi’s 71st-minute strike helped Dreams cancel Yemoh’s first-half strike for Vison. The game ended 1-1 with Vison the happier of the two sides.

Berekum Chelsea recorded their first win of the season with a 2-0 win over Holy Stars at the Berekum City Park

As the league heads into Week 5, the table remains tightly contested. Heart of Lions lead with 10 points, followed closely by Medeama and Bibiani Gold Stars.

Kotoko and Hohoe United are building momentum, while Karela and Nations FC must regroup quickly.

With surprises already unfolding, fans can expect more twists in what’s shaping up to be a thrilling Ghana Premier League season.
